We're Back!!

The Island Princess ready to board in Whittier.

These are pictures from the train trip from Mt. McKinley to the cruise ship. You can see the difference between to two sides of the train.

We're back to reality and wouldn't take anything for the wonderful experience of Alaska with friends. I'll post some pictures and try to give more details later. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!

Jet Boat at Talkeetna

We're at McKinley - yesterday we went on a Jet Boat to Devil's Canyon with class 6 rapids, 130 miles round trip. The jet boat was great - we only lost half the passengers. Leaving McKinley today and taking railroad to the cruise. Haven't seen bear or moose yet. Our clothes are getting very tight and the suitcases are over flowing. The weather has been great - all of Mt McKinley was visible yesterday. Mosquitoes are giant!!

Fairbanks

Denali

It has been really hard to find a place to log on to the blog. We are fine and sitting in the lodge in Denali waiting for the bus to take us to Mt. McKinley. This morning we went on a natural nature tour of Denali-saw carabou, went on a short hike, listened to a talk on the native Alaska history and customs from the chief of the Koyukuk, saw a golden eagle, and saw breath taking scenery. Last night we went to a dinner theatre "The Music of Denali." A great group of college students preformed a musical on the history of the area. The food was great - salmon at every meal and they also had ribs.

On Friday morning we had a river boat cruise that was fabulous. I'll give you more info later on what we saw along the way - great trip!

The weather has been cool. For the group that is flying tomorrow, you will need some warm clothes. It was very cold (40's) on the mountain today. I am dressing in layers-this afternoon it is in the low 60's. We're looking foward to having help from GA - we're sort of out numbered here but have met some nice fellow travelers.

I'll try to blog more later about the what we saw on the riverboat and the fun lunch we had in Fairbanks. Don't let me forget to tell you.
